Flat Pack Furniture Packing and Container Planning

Export protection and carton efficiency planned together, from panel edges to the final 40HQ load.

Packing standard

Protection at the points where furniture usually fails

Flat-pack furniture is vulnerable at panel edges, corners and decorated surfaces. Packaging is specified around those risks rather than treated as a last-minute carton choice.

01

Five-layer export carton

The carton construction is matched to weight, panel size and distribution handling.

02

Edge and corner protection

EPE, paper or moulded protection is placed at fragile edges and exposed corners.

03

Separated hardware

Fittings are packed in a labelled bag with the required quantity and assembly reference.

04

Surface separation

Finished faces are separated where movement or abrasion could damage the melamine surface.

05

Assembly documents

Parts list, hardware schedule and instructions are checked against the approved sample.

06

Shipment marking

Carton marks can include SKU, colour, quantity, barcode and buyer-specific handling data.

Container optimisation

Reduce air, not product protection

Carton efficiency starts with the furniture structure. Knock-down panels, nested components and sensible hardware placement can reduce unused volume without compromising the protection plan.

  • Carton size checked against the 20GP / 40GP / 40HQ load plan
  • Model mix reviewed for stacking and unloading sequence
  • Carton compression and pallet strategy confirmed where relevant
  • Loading plan issued for bulky projects and mixed programmes
  • Weight distribution reviewed before the container is packed
Export workflow

What happens before the container is loaded

Drawing, finish and carton requirements are confirmed.

  2. 02

    Production

  3. 03

    Inspection

Function, finish, hardware and packaging are checked by AQL plan.

  4. 04

    Carton audit

Labels, quantity and protection are checked before loading.

  5. 05

    Loading plan

The final mixed load is sequenced for the booked container.

  6. 06

    Export documents

Commercial documents are checked against the order and shipment details.
